High School Sports: Clark County Talent Heads South
September 22, 2012
St. Mary's Academy in Portland is getting an influx of girls basketball talent from Clark County, including one of the big names from the area.
Jackie Lanz, an all-league player who helped Prairie win the Class 3A state title last spring, has transferred to the all-girls Catholic school in downtown Portland. The Blues reached the Oregon Class 6A quarterfinals last year under former Hudson's Bay coach Art Rojas.
Prairie lost all-state player Heather Corral (now at the University of Washington) and coach Al Aldridge (now at Clark College) from last year's team. But with Lanz, Cori Woodward, and Megan Lindsley returning, the Falcons would have been expected to be a factor again in the state tournament.
Lanz has been joined at St. Mary's by junior CeCe Wooten, a transfer from Hudson's Bay.
