Amid mounting attack talk, Israel's PM says threat from Iran dwarfs all others

JERUSALEM - Israel's prime minister says the threat from Iran dwarfs all others the Jewish state faces.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his Cabinet on Sunday: "Iran must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons."

Netanyahu said recently that no decision had been made on whether to attack or not. There is no way to know however whether hints from Israel's leadership indicate actual policy positions, or are part of a disinformation campaign meant to pressure Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

Netanyahu and other leading officials have noted that tough international sanctions have not succeeded Iran to abandon its suspect uranium enrichment program ? a process that has civilian uses but could also be used to build bombs.

Tehran says its nuclear program is peaceful, designed mainly to produce energy.

Summer Trends In Plus Size Lingerie - Online Article Directory - Jan ...

Plus Size Lingerie is not mitt discover in the algid when it comes to fashion. Just with another lingerie, as a specializer or concern updates their lawful fourpenny ranges, the nonnegative filler ranges of underclothing intend an update too.

So, what up and reaching in the concern of large lingerie? There are digit important areas of underclothing distinction ups that hit been updated this year. The prototypal is corsets ? there has been a Brobdingnagian increase in the popularity of corsets in past eld and that way has continued. Because of their enthusiastic knowledge in embody shaping, it?s no assail that nonnegative filler corsets hit also condemned off. This assemblage we?ve seen individual newborn lines of corsets with plumb striping appear, and more that are prefabricated from charmeuse material, which is shiny and stretchy.

The ordinal identify of underclothing that has been updated this flavour is in nonnegative filler hosiery. Last assemblage we saw the prototypal types of nonnegative filler clothing pantyhose arrive, which are a ordered of pantyhose, or hose as they are famous in the UK, where the bracing and sides are removed, so you modify up with a unify of stockings with desegrated garters, effectively. They evidenced astonishingly popular, and this assemblage we?ve seen this base organisation enhanced, so there are today mountain of assorted styles. These arrange from ultimate net variants of the clothing pantyhose, finished to flooded desegrated garters and stockings, webbed versions or modify alter ups. These newborn designs are already attractive retail by storm, so it?s definitely an Atlantic for the style semiconscious to countenance at.

One enthusiastic nonnegative for shoppers in today?s business status is that since retailers are constantly effort newborn ranges in from manufacturers, you crapper ofttimes encounter the senior lines of nonnegative filler underclothing existence oversubscribed off. DOE/SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory

'Self-seeding' promises to speed discoveries, add new scientific capabilities

With a thin sliver of diamond, scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory have transformed the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) into an even more precise tool for exploring the nanoworld. The improvements yield laser pulses focused to higher intensity in a much narrower band of X-ray wavelengths, and may enable experiments that have never before been possible.

In a process called "self-seeding," the diamond filters the laser beam to a single X-ray color, which is then amplified. Like trading a hatchet for a scalpel, the advance will give researchers more control in studying and manipulating matter at the atomic level and will deliver sharper images of materials, molecules and chemical reactions.

"The more control you have, the finer the details you can see," said Jerry Hastings, a SLAC scientist and co-author on the research, published this week in Nature Photonics. "People have been talking about self-seeding for nearly 15 years. The method we incorporated at SLAC was proposed in 2010 by Gianluca Geloni, Vitali Kocharyan and Evgeni Saldin of the European XFEL and DESY research centers in Germany. When our team from SLAC and Argonne National Laboratory built it, we were surprised by how simple, robust and cost-effective the engineering turned out to be." Hastings added that laboratories around the world are already planning to incorporate this important advance into their own X-ray laser facilities.

Self-seeding has the potential to produce X-ray pulses with significantly higher intensity than the current LCLS performance. The increased intensity in each pulse could be used to probe deep into complex materials to help answer questions about exotic substances like high-temperature superconductors or intricate electronic states like those found in topological insulators.

The LCLS generates its laser beam by accelerating bunches of electrons to nearly the speed of light and setting them on a zig-zag path with a series of magnets. This forces the electrons to emit X-rays, which are gathered into laser pulses that are a billion times brighter than any available before, and fast enough to scan samples in quadrillionths of a second.

Without self-seeding these X-ray laser pulses contain a range of wavelengths (or colors) in an unpredictable pattern, not all of which experimenters can use. Until now, creating a narrower wavelength band at LCLS meant subtracting the unwanted wavelengths, resulting in a substantial loss of intensity.

To create a precise X-ray wavelength band and make the LCLS even more "laser-like," researchers installed a slice of diamond crystal halfway down the 130-meter bank of magnets where the X-rays are generated.

Producing the narrower wavelength band is just the beginning. "The resulting pulses could pack up to 10 times more intensity when we finish optimizing the system and add more undulators," said Zhirong Huang, a SLAC accelerator physicist and co-author, who has been a major contributor to the project.

LCLS has already begun accepting proposals to use self-seeding for future experiments.

The first tests of the LCLS self-seeding system have generated intense excitement among scientists the world over. Representatives from other X-ray laser facilities, including Swiss FEL, SACLA in Japan and the European XFEL, came to help, and also learn how to implement it at their own sites.

According to Paul Emma, a co-author who was a key figure in the original commissioning of the LCLS and in implementing self-seeding, "the entire group of observers was smiling from ear to ear." Emma, now working at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, has a history of making tough jobs look easy, but he would only say, "I was very happy to see it work."

The team included collaborators from the Technical Institute for Superhard and Novel Carbon Materials in Troitsk, Russia, which supplied the diamond filter, and Argonne National Laboratory, which designed the vacuum chamber to house it and the precision motion controls to adjust it. The research was supported by the DOE's Office of Science.

Greek Food Festival - Greek Potato Salad

(On Johanna's Low Sodium Blog, she just posted a great recipe for Greek Greens & Herb Pie. It includes a savory olive oil crust filled with a variety of fresh greens and herbs. Tasty and healthy -- A perfect summer dish!)

Patatosalata (Greek Potato Salad)

Fresh, lively, and bursting with flavor. This salad brightens any meal and is a delicious alternative to the typical mayonnaise-laden versions. The lemon juice in the dressing definitely makes up for any missing salt. This is a perfect take-along salad for barbecues and picnics. It?s great chilled and even at room temperature. Although the recipe makes a large amount, we never have any left over. It?s hard to believe that just five ingredients can create such a tasty dish.

I usually boil the potatoes with the skins on and peel them once cooled slightly. If I use red potatoes, I?ll try to keep the skins on for additional color interest. Sometimes I?ll use baby potatoes and just steam those until done. However, if you?ve got a favorite way of preparing potatoes for potato salad, feel free to use it instead.

I don?t use the optional ingredients. I like the simple combination of potatoes, parsley, and onions, with a lemon and olive oil dressing. However, you might enjoy adding freshly minced garlic or dried/fresh herbs. Oregano, dill, and mint are traditional Greek herbs and could be used in any combination.

I encourage you to give this recipe a try. Once you do, you?ll make it over and over again.

Patatosalata (Greek Potato Salad)

2 ? 2 ? lbs. wax potatoes (white, Yukon Gold, or red)
? cup extra virgin olive oil
Juice of 1- 2 large lemons (I like it lemony, so I use a minimum of 2 lemons, juiced)
1 red onion, finely diced
1 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
1-2 garlic cloves, crushed or finely minced (optional)
1 tsp. or to taste - dried/fresh Greek oregano, dill, or mint (optional)

Wash potatoes well. Add potatoes to a large pot of boiling water and bring to boil. Lower heat and cook potatoes at simmer for about 15 - 20 minutes, or until potatoes are just tender. Do not overcook.

Drain water and let potatoes cool slightly to touch.

While potatoes are cooking, finely chop onion and parsley.

In a small bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic (if used), and herbs (if used), parsley, and onion. Mix well and set aside.

When slightly cooled, peel and cut potatoes into slices or large dice (If desired, leave skin on red potatoes).

Place potatoes in a large bowl; add dressing. Toss gently to coat. Cover bowl and refrigerate for several hours or overnight. Stir every once in a while to redistribute dressing.

Losing Weight And Keeping It Off

Are you looking for healthy, successful and easy ways to lose weight? You?ve found your way to the answers you seek! Try the ideas in this article to help with your weight loss and see what has been successful for others.

You need to find foods that will fill you up without providing a lot of calories. Before a meal, enjoy a soup, salad, carrot sticks, tomatoes and other low-calorie foods; they will help you to feel satisfied so you avoid the higher calorie main entree. Try drinking beverages that have no sugar or water or coffee.

TIP! Spread your meals out during the course of your day. It is much better to have five or six small meals spread out during the day than to have three large meals.

If you?re trying to lose weight, evaluate the size of your dishes. When you use over-sized dish plates, you can inadvertently overeat due to dishing up larger portions. Your dinner should fit on a 9-inch plate. Anything larger is too big and unnecessary.

Eat earlier during the day, including completing dinner several hours before bedtime. Your metabolism is able to work better earlier in the day. Research has shown that your ability to burn off calories slows as it gets closer to bedtime. When you complete your last meal in the early evening, you will have more time to burn it off before bed.

If unhealthy food is a staple in your diet, you may be using it as a comfort mechanism. It is important that you figure out the type of feelings or situations that cause you to crave food as comfort. The next time you feel like indulging in comfort food, think about how much weight you stand to gain, and come up with another way to help you feel better.

A great way to lose some weight is to serve your food on smaller plates. Using smaller plates will make you downsize your food servings and help you eat less. This method is an effective way to reduce the amount of calories you are consuming.

Following a weight loss program does not mean you have to stay away from pizza. Blot pizza slices with paper napkins to limit your grease intake.

TIP! Consuming up to 20 grams of sugar right after a workout could actually have a favorable effect on your body. If you combine the sugar with protein, your body will break down the sugar and send it to your muscles.

A great weight loss tip is to drink a large glass of water before each meal. Many times, we mistake thirst for hunger. Having some water fills you up and stops you from eating too much.

You should always think of weight loss as a lifestyle change, not just something quick to do so you fit in a swimsuit. If you can make adjustments to your everyday habits, you will see that you have a good chance at succeeding while trying to lose lots of weight.

Make the effort to keep a journal that you record everything you eat or drink in. Make sure that you do not count calories in your weight loss program. If you write down every bit of food you eat, it is possible to get a handle on the quantity consumed on a daily basis. You may find that you eat more than you think! Organizing your foods also helps you to distinguish the types of foods you consume. You are less likely to eat additional food if you actually have to see it written down in your food journal.

TIP! Try not to consume too many meals or snacks during the day. Allow yourself one treat a day.

When possible, wear comfortable clothing that fits properly. You will find it easier to walk and be active when it is not difficult to move around. If you?re able to dress casually for work, take advantage of that.

When dieting and attempting to lose weight, you don?t have to sacrifice taste. Until recently, weight-loss food was not tasty and lacked sugar. Now there are better choices in sweeteners and preservatives, so you can enjoy tasty food without unhealthy carbohydrates and fat. This is a great tactic if you hope to still consume foods that taste good while continuing on your weight loss journey.

Your pets can be integrated into your workouts. Pets can be useful for working out. Walking or running with your pets provide wonderful workouts.

TIP! Weight loss starts in your mind, so learn how to win the mental battles. You need to convince yourself that the thing you?re doing is possible and that you could do it.

If you are served a plate of food with large portions, only eat the amount of food that constitutes a single portion. Growing up, we were always told to finish everything on our plate. This childhood belief has led many adults into unhealthy weight gain. It?s okay to take leftover food home with you. Don?t eat something just because it?s on your plate. Focus on the food you are eating and quit when you begin to feel satisfied.

It is crucial that you record the calories you intake each day. Do this by counting calories at every meal and tallying it up at the end of the day. Knowing how many calories you are eating compared to how much exercise you are doing helps you adjust your eating patterns to lose weight.

Eat each meals at the same times everyday when you are trying to lose weight. Research has shown that if you know when your next meal is scheduled for, you will be less likely to pick at foods while waiting for your next meal. Try to make a schedule that will be easy to follow and provide the right amount of time between meals.

TIP! Water is very beneficial if you want to maintain your weight loss regimen. Our bodies need to drink about eight full glasses of water each day to stay properly hydrated.

Replace your sweets with fresh fruit. If you have the habit of consuming chocolate or various sweetened food, try to replace these with fruits that you enjoy. This will help you in losing weight and you will also be able to get the sugar that you?re craving.

Going to a party doesn?t require you to stop dieting for the day. Choose healthier options to start before going to the high calorie entrees. Doing this will allow you to take part in the festivities while sticking with your diet plan. There is no need to make an issue of your diet, just go with your modified plan and enjoy.

Aren?t you excited to begin your weight loss journey? It has probably given you the inspiration to finally start to lose the pounds. If you use the ideas in this article, you will lose those unwanted pounds. After you reach your target weight, you have to keep at it so you maintain the weight and not gain it back.

Beware scrawling notes on hiring documents ? Business ...

When it comes to documenting em??ployment actions, what you do write can be just as damning as what you don?t write. Advice: Refrain from scribbling margin notes on employment applications, r?sum?s or tests. Since you need to re??tain those documents, making notations of any kind, including ?secret codes? that identify or categorize re??cruits, could create a dangerous paper trail that could be tough to explain later. Consider two cases.

Case #1: A female applicant for a refinery position cried sex discrimination when she didn?t land the job.

She pointed to notes such as ?pink glasses? and ?short brown hair? which one evaluator had scrawled in the margin of his form.

His sexist attitude, plus the low scores he gave her, cost her the job, she claimed.

No it didn?t, the court ruled. All the evaluators gave the applicant a low score; all expressed concern about her ability to perform a physically demanding job.

As for the margin notes ? the evaluator explained they were an attempt to remember which applicant went with which form. (Davis v. Chevron U.S.A., Inc.)

Case #2: After a farming-supply company gave applicants written tests, it noted the applicants? race and sex on the test. Its well-meaning goal: Assess whether the test had a disparate impact on minority hiring.

A group of applicants sued for hiring bias, saying the practice amounted to an illegal, pre-offer inquiry. The company argued that it merely ?observed? the applicants? race and sex, but didn?t require applicants to disclose the information.

A district court didn?t buy it. While the company didn?t formally request the data, it still technically required the information for employment.

As a result, the court let the applicant group pursue a class-action suit. (Modtland v. Mills Fleet Farm Inc.)

(AP) ? Thousands of Filipinos shoveled muck and debris from flood-ravaged homes, shops and roads under a shining sun Thursday after nearly two weeks of nonstop rain shut down the capital and forced hundreds of thousands to flee from the deluge.

At least 23 people died and nearly 2 million people were affected by Manila's worst flooding since 2009. More than half of the sprawling metropolis of 12 million was submerged at the peak, and schools and offices have been closed for days.

Under a hot sun Thursday as the rain finally stopped, residents began to fix disheveled homes and stores in flood-hit communities that resembled a wasteland littered with mud-caked garbage. Some of the displaced in still-crowded evacuation centers have begun to trickle back to neighborhoods, where floodwaters have subsided, Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman said, but more than 314,000 people remained in hundreds of evacuation centers in Manila and outlying provinces.

"We were totally washed out," said Rudy Aquino, a flower shop owner along Araneta Avenue, where more than three meters (10 feet) of rampaging floodwaters swamped everything and carried all sorts of trash and even a wayward cargo truck.

Aquino, whose shop also was hit by the more massive flashflood in 2009, was moving to a safer location when the deluge engulfed his business on Tuesday and again late Wednesday when floodwaters rose again. As he tried to rise from the latest onslaught, a fresh supply of red orchids arrived at his shop Thursday as he and staff were cleaning up.

Even though the weather has cleared, the government was busy with rescue and relief work in the worst-hit areas, especially along swollen rivers and coastal communities. In hard-hit Marikina city in the capital, rescuers on rubber boats floated down still-flooded streets to reach thousands of residents marooned in submerged houses along the Marikina River.

After the rains stopped, thousands of shoppers descended on grocery stores to stack up on food and other supplies.

The flooding has rattled the nerves of tens of thousands of people who had to be evacuated for the second time in as many days after returning home during a brief respite of dry weather early Wednesday.

"They are hard-headed. Now that the waters are high again, they got scared and they are calling us to be rescued," said police Senior Inspector Abner Perdosa, who led a team of rescuers in orange shirts helping residents across waist-deep muddy waters into government-run shelters.

Minerva Mercader, a beauty parlor worker, said she and her children had returned to their house near a river in suburban Quezon City when the weather cleared Wednesday, only to rush back to a Roman Catholic church when the waters rose again.

"I got scared because the sky was so dark and there was this downpour," said Mercader, who was dripping wet from the rain as she stepped into Santo Domingo Church with her three children.

The 23 deaths reported since Sunday include nine people killed in a landslide in Quezon City and several who drowned in outlying provinces. Classes were suspended this week as cities declared a state of calamity, and government offices were slowly reopening. The U.S. Embassy remained closed Thursday.
